College of Education and Human Development - George Mason University

The Cognitive Assessment Program was established in 2003 in order to provide cognitive and educational assessment services to the Northern Virginia Community. Our mission is to provide high quality, timely, and comparable assessments for all clients, while ensuring that the testing experiences is comfortable and appropriate. We provide individual cognitive and educational assessments year-round, and group administered assessments in the fall and/or winter months. In addition to providing assessment services, GMU’s Cognitive Assessment Program also supports research designed to improve our understanding of best assessment practices. CAP is housed within the School Psychology Department, which is part of the College of Education and Human Development.

In recognition of the high standards and consistent quality of reports generated by the Mason Cognitive Assessment Program, Fairfax County Public Schools recommends our program as a quality provider of assessments to families who are seeking entrance to FCPS’ Advanced Academic Programs. In addition, our reports are often sought out by parents seeking admission to private school programs, or who simply wish to have a more detailed understanding of their child’s intellectual ability.

Once you are contacted and have an appointment scheduled, we expect that your experience with your individual examiner will be a positive one.
